COURSE REVIEW REPORT

Business Meeting

The INTERNATIONAL TEFL TESOL CERTIFICATE COURSE that EIS EDUCATION developed is very comprehensive and precise in the achievement of the course objective which is to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes of an English as a Second Language or English as a Foreign Language teacher in accordance with international English Language Teaching standards.

Anchoring the entry requirements on the results of a standardized test makes the course more effective since the target profile of trainees in which the course is designed has been satisfied from the very beginning. A college degree regardless of specialization as a requirement will give equal opportunities to all who aspire to become ESL and EFL teachers. Anyway, all college degree programs have integrated units for communication courses, and those who graduated senior high school had gone through two English Language courses also.

The core competencies included in the course cover all the necessary skills needed for the achievement of the course objective. It covers both content and performance standards which makes the course holistic. The assessment methods are varied which is recommended if one wants to assess different aspects of development among the trainees. The methods are geared to gauge performance-based tasks which are considered the more authentic ways of assessing learning. Reflection activities also serve as an avenue for the trainees to appreciate the course and foster awareness of their attitudes and values. The assessment criteria for each of the methods are commended for it guides the course facilitators in assessing the trainees objectively and fairly.

Overall, the course is well laid out and there is a clear connection in each aspect of the course.
